1. If you are looking for something to kick off a healthy eating New Year's resolution - I am sharing Epicure's Light and Lean Meal Plan!
It is full of EASY recipes for 400 calorie or less, balanced meals - even if you aren't looking for a kick start, some of these recipes might inspire some new breakfast, lunch or dinners on your table. I am going to try the Whole Wheat Banana Pancake recipe this week - it looks like it has lots of good for you fiber! I have made the Curry-in-a-Hurry recipe before and it was really good.
Please use this link to get to the plan:
2. Now that I have had a chance to try out some of the new products featured in the 2011 catalogue I can report back to you on them:
a) Canadian Maple Kettle Popcorn Seasoning: One word...YUMMY! The kids agree, this one is a winner! $7.95 a bottle
b) Hot Artichoke Dip Mix: Super easy to make. Epicure updated this product this year - it no longer has pesto in it. This is your classic hot artichoke dip - tastes just like the restaurants. It is also the Epicure Foundation product of the year - part of the proceeds from the sales of this item support the Epicure Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting grassroots food security initiatives across Canada. $7.95
c) Montreal Chicken Rub: This comes in a good sized bottle for $9.95. It was easy to use, I rubbed my chicken in olive oil and then rolled it in these spices. WAY less salt than similar products sold at the grocery store.
d) Chocolate Pudding in an Instant: You will never ever buy chocolate pudding from the leading brands again once you do the comparison with Epicure's version. Add milk and stir - just as easy to make but there are NO added colors or preservatives. This is a fun way to let your kids make dessert one night. $5.95.
e) Arriba Sansel: Very good sprinkled on just about anything you want to give a Latin taste to...including popcorn! NO SODIUM. $7.50
f) Stainless Steel Portion Scoop: I love this kitchen tool!! It is perfect for baking cookies and muffins...no more messy spoons. Squeeze the handle and it releases the dough. Love it! $14.95
g) Non-stick Flipper: Finally my non-stick pans are safe from scratching. This is a basic tool, but I sure needed it. (Next I am getting the silicone tongs) $7.95
Herb and Garlic Dip Mix $5.95
Seasoning for Spinach Dip 5.95
Pesto Herb Mix $7.95
Italian Salad Dressing Mix $7.95
Epicure's Ultimate Light and Lean Collection (includes Beef Bouillon, Arriba Sansel, 3 Onion Dip Mix, Asian Stir Fry Seasoning, and recipe brochure) $24.95 (reg. $31.35)
